David Eric Grohl was born on January 14, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. He started playing the guitar before he learned the drums. He has said that he feels more comfortable playing the guitar than the drums, but we all know that he's great at both. When he was a teenager, his mom (a teacher) got him some drum sticks from the school band. They were too poor to get a drum set, so Dave took the drumsticks and practiced on pillows, using a chair for the hi hat. He was in different bands, like Scream, before joining Nirvana. While in Nirvana, he recorded some songs under the name Foo Fighters. The Pocketwatch Demos are a prime example of this. He was in Nirvana until Kurt Cobain couldn't take life anymore and killed himself. About a year after, Dave made the first official Foo Fighters album. He played all the instruments on it and was later joined by Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, and William Goldsmith. But, of course, you probably knew all that. What you DIDN'T know is that Dave is really CANADIAN! Which explains a lot.*
